as much tooth structure as possible so that the teeth would not interfere with the peripheral struts of the subperiosteal implant framework that straddled them. An incision was made from the retromolar pad on one side to the pad area on the other side. The incision extended to the distoproximal surfaces of the terminal abutments on each side. The tissues were retracted in the edentulous areas and from the gingival attachments around the remaining teeth with a blunt periosteal elevator.

It was necessary to expose the same bony land-marks as is done when doing the full subperiosteal implant procedures (Fig. 12-101, B).

pared teeth in the anterior quadrant and over both posterior edentulous areas (Fig. 12-101, C). A rubber base impression of the entire mandible was taken (Fig. 12-101, D and E). It became necessary to ex-pose as much of the symphysis and genial tubercles as possible so that the framework of the implant could encircle the teeth without the teeth interfering
