closed (Fig. 12-52) . Linkow now prefers using Imput for the fabrication of the tray and impression.

Suturing is done in the same manner as for the completely edentulous implant patient. Sometimes an intraoral bandage is used over the sutured tissues to protect them from movements of the tongue, cheeks, and lips.

A surgical wax bite of the exposed mandible in relation to the opposing complement of teeth is also taken.

The master stone model is poured. From this model both the metallic implant and the temporary acrylic splint, if one is to be used, are fabricated (Fig. 12-53) . The temporary splint fits over both
