An anterior tooth's crown was saved by use of a bladevent as the most anterior abutment of a five-unit splint. The patient was wearing a removable Nesbit bridge (1,2) that threatened the stability of its anchoring teeth. The second bicuspid and molars were prepared (2), and a universal bladevent was modified to fit into the short span by cutting off its mesial shoulder (3,4) so that the post extended immediately distal to the lateral incisor. The five-unit splint was made (5,6) and cemented over the abutments (7). The finished restoration (8-10) is se-cured by four strong abutments—one artificial and three natural.
