The prosthesis was immediately immobilized. However, the palatal connecting bar had been forced into the tissues, which by the next day were severely inflamed. Finally, 2 months after the initial complaints of pain, the decision was made to remove the entire prosthesis and each implant individually.

The bridge was severed distal to both vent-plants placed in the lateral incisor area. In order to sepa

rate the anterior quadrant of vent-plants from the two posterior quadrants of triplants, the underlying template was also severed at the same time. Both posterior quadrants were pulled out separately in one piece, each piece including the intact pins still locked to the template (Fig. 4-38). The vent-plants as a unit, however, were extremely firm (Fig. 4-39). To determine whether all were tight, they were
