a The young patient with both a lateral incisor and a cuspid missing bilaterally (1), had space for only a single replacement (2). Because the neighboring teeth were healthy, stable, and attractive, it was possible to plan single-tooth replacements supported by single-tooth bladevents (3,4). These were cemented over the bladevents (5,6) to provide handsome replacements without the use of a bulky removable appliance or sacrificing neighboring teeth for inclusion in another type of fixed restoration.
