Pterygoid extension

unilateral left

endosteal blad right and left

A bladevent was inserted in a very narrow arch between the patient's ugly incisors (1) and molar (2). (The sinus-circumventing bladevent is shown in the carrying instrument (3)). Bilaterally the same implant design is used in the presinus area (4), and an impression is taken of the hamular notch area for a unilateral pterygoid extension implant. The natural and artificial abutments are shown with Duralay® copings (5), and their restoration tried (6,7). The unilateral pterygoid extension implant is inserted (8-10), and fitted with its crown (11) to give an entirely new, attractive look to a formerly unattractive situation.

®Duralay is manufactured by Reliance Dental Mfg. Co., Worth, Ill. 60482
