Pterygoid extension with palatal struts

The fabricated pterygoid extension implant again exhibits a greatly reduced palatal portion (2). The secure anchorage posteriorly has permitted reducing the bulk and weight of the palatal portion of the implant. Only minor modification of the ridge was necessary anteriorly to permit atraumatic fitting of the labial struts and their wings. The casting was fitted over the implant (4), and the final restoration seated (5,6).
