Toroplant

The toroplant idea appeared particularly useful when a distinct palatine torus was present (I). The plate fitted over the torus, snugly braced against the palate (2). In this case, the pillars extending through the soft tissues (3) received a soft tissue gold template that could be screwed on (4, bottom). This adaptation lightened the restoration and eliminated palatal bulk (5,6). It also facilitated removal for cleaning, and there were no problems with cement seal breakage. However, the entire toroplant with its attached template was inadequately braced, and loosened from the bone.
