it from the alveolar crest in a palatolingual direction to engage the septum. If it had been placed perpendicular to the alveolar crest, the chances of its entering the vestibulum would have been great. The hollow threaded vent-plant was inserted until slightly over 1 mm. protruded into the oral cavity.

A full arch maxillary impression in plaster was taken. A duplicate hollow threaded shaft was put in the plaster index and a master stone model was poured, allowed to set, and then separated from the plaster index. The hardened stone model contained the duplicate shaft in its proper position.

An outline of the scalloped template was marked directly on the stone model with a pencil. In those situations where fixed dentures are contemplated, this outline is planned by using properly
