426 Theories and techniques of oral implantology

Fig. 10-149. Copings were splinted to each other with a connecting palatal bar.

Fig. 10-150. Veneer castings were fabricated to fit over the two copings.

Fig. 10-151. A fast-setting stone bite rim was fabricated to facilitate an accurate interocclusal record of centric relation.

Fig. 10-153. Holes were made through the template for the pin implants.

Fig. 10-152. Both veneer castings were connected to one another by means of a gold rigid template. Anteriorly, four protruding posts with internal threadings are seen.

(Fig. 10-148). To aid retention of these teeth, they were prepared for full crown coverage. Copings were made to fit over them, and then veneer crown castings were fabricated to fit over the copings. The copings were joined together with a wide palatal bar that fitted passively on the termination of the hard palate (Fig. 10-149). This bar was removable by the snapping on and off of female attachments soldered to the lingual surfaces of the copings. The copings and connecting palatal bar were placed over the two prepared molar teeth and cemented with hard cement. The veneer castings were then placed over the copings (Fig. 10-150). Because there was such a long expanse of soft tissue, a quick-setting stone tray was made directly in the mouth to get a more accurate bite. Grooves were cut on the occlusal surface of the stone model (Fig. 10-151), and
