Narrowing of the maxillary ridge is typical of both partially (1) and totally edentulous patients, with one side of the ridge commonly more narrow than the other (2). Bladevents must often be acutely angled (3) and counter-sunk (4) in a narrow site. Note (3) that a double-posted bladevent is often the design of choice in a particularly narrow site to more evenly distribute pressure.
