Both a unilateral pterygoid extension implant and a unilateral subperiosteal implant were used for this totally edentulous arch (1). First the subperiosteal implant was executed (2-4), and then the bladevents inserted (5). When the tissues healed (6), the splint was fabricated with an internal screw system (7) for anchoring the pterygoid extension implant. This was positioned (8), and the ridges exposed for the pterygoid extension implant (9,10). After healing (11,12), a four-unit splint completed the restoration (13,14).
