Atypically a double-posted bladevent serves as anchorage for two types of subperiosteal implants. The patient was totally edentulous (I), and two double-posted bladevents were inserted on each side of the midline (2-4). A pterygoid extension implant covering three abutment posts and spanning approximately three-fourths of the arch was fabricated (5), together with a unilateral subperiosteal implant with an anterior coping (6), the anterior anchorage of which was the distal post of the right bladevent whose proximal post was already included in the pterygoid extension implant. In this manner both sides of the arch were splinted the same as a full-arch splint after the implant copings were cemented to the bladevent posts. The subperiosteal type implants were inserted in the same session over the bladevents (7 through 11), and the tissues closed (12). The patient was dismissed until the tissues healed (13). The final full-arch restoration (14) was cemented over the abutment posts (15).
